AI & Work Stuff - My Thoughts at 11pm

Ok so i've been trying to write this post for like 2 weeks and kept deleting everything cause it felt fake. whatever. here's what's actually going on with AI at my job rn:

First off - our company bought some fancy AI thing last month and omg the DRAMA. Katie literally cried in the bathroom (i know cause i was hiding in there during the announcement meeting lol).

quick backstory - i'm the idiot who volunteered to test this stuff cause i thought it would look good for my promotion. HUGE MISTAKE!!!! or maybe not? still figuring that out tbh

anyway here's what actually happened:

Day 1: couldn't even log in. spent 2 hrs with IT. Brad from IT now hates me. gr8 start.

Day 4: finally got it working... kinda? tried using it to help write reports (which i HATE doing omg so boring). it actually.... helped???? but also somehow called our biggest client's product "mildly interesting" in a presentation and my boss nearly had a stroke

Things I've learned the hard way:

AI is basically like having a really smart intern who sometimes eats glue

it's REALLY good at math (unlike me lol)

it's TERRIBLE at office politics (also like me tbh)

it doesn't understand inside jokes or why u cant tell Karen her idea is "statistically improbable" even if it is

Real talk: im not worried about AI taking my job anymore. like... have u seen it try to handle an angry client email?? DISASTER. but also... its kinda nice having help with the boring stuff?

Yesterday I had to analyze this huge dataset that would've taken me literally forever. AI sorted it in like 5 min. But then it completely missed that one branch closed 6 months ago cause Sarah's cousin who manages it eloped to vegas (still cant believe that happened btw, like??? with the ELECTRICIAN???)

idk where im going with this honestly. guess what im trying to say is:

AI is weird

its not replacing us but its definitely changing stuff

im tired of pretending i know what im doing with it - NO ONE KNOWS what theyre doing lets be real

my job feels different now but not in the way those annoying LinkedIn posts said it would

also can we talk about how it tried to "optimize" the holiday party planning???? suggested we do trust falls instead of karaoke. absolutely NOT.

gonna wrap this up cause its late and i still have to fix that report where the AI kept calling our sustainable initiative "moderately green" (wtf does that even mean???)
